You could be happy.

I love The Royal Tenenbaums.

So what if you have a dysfunctional family? We all do. Just appreciate what you have. And sometimes turn a blind eye when it comes to family and loved one.

Oh, Richie and Margot in the movie was great. There's another Youtube video I found with the scene when he slit his wrists. Ewww. But I would understand why anyone would want to do that.

Not that I'm in a suicidal mood or anything.

Thursday?

I am so confused with the date. And time. Since this month, I have been on the night shift for four days a week, then I sleep during the day, then I wake up at odd hours not knowing where I am! And lately I've been dreaming so much sleep isn't really relaxing. Hmmmm

So, to summarize the past week briefly:

1. I went to see "Inception" and it was great.
Well, there's Joseph Gordon-Levitt to begin with, then Leonardo DiCaprio, and Ellen Page. But what was so great is the story and how mesmerizing it was!! Highly highly recommended.

Oh, and of course Marion Cotillard. What beauty and talent.

2. I have a genuine Vuvuzela of my own.
Lalalala thanks to my co-worker who just got back from South Africa and had a spare V. left for me!!! I've been playing with it for a full day and planning to annoy the hell out of everyone I can. Lalalala I'm sooo happy!!

3. I'm halfway through the third book in Stieg Larsson's Millenium books, and I would have been done with it a few days before this (since I literally am in love with Lisbeth Salander and her tattos) if not because of.....

4. The discovery Plants VS. Zombies on my iPhone and me spending hours playing on this thing!!!
Addictive to say the least!

Okay. Random post. But whatever. I still feel so tired all the time. Humans aren't really made to stay up during the night are we? Yawnnnn

I'm going back to my zombies now. Ciao!

Midnight Munchies, Job Hazard.

My job is actually a health hazard. Some days I work at 8am to 9 pm, and others from 7pm to 8am. Of course I get some sleep, but it's not sleep that's worrying. It's the midnight meals me and my co-workers seek almost every night :P

And it's hard to resist the temptation! There's yummy stuff on every corner after hours, and last night was no different. We went out and got fish maw soup, bread with custard and noodles. Oh, and deep-fried meatballs. I was stuffed.

The bread and milk vendor. Yummmmm

Famous Mont Nom Sod at the Giant Swing. Always packed and always great for boring nights at the office.

I haven't tried this place yet, but they have stir-fried rice noodles with pak kra ched or water minosa. I have to visit this place.

Oh, and their menu so I can plan ahead. Haha.

Happily seeking for yummy food in Bangkok....

Red Headband and Happy Friday.

Last Friday, I had the night shift, but since it was Friday me and my sister just had to make it a bit special. So we went to this event at Central World. There was a concert and loads of handmade artsy stuff on sale. Nice but hot though. Anyway, we were dressed for it :P

I keep telling her she wears these black shorts too often. Of course, she ignored me, and told me she has two of these. They look exactly the same though. Hmmmm...

The wooden house is my grandpa's. And it's not that I wear headbands so much, I just got an impulse on that day...

What I wore to my Friday shift at work.

A confession. Friday night it was the Brazil match with Holland. I had a Brazil headband, which I wore when I was watching the match at the office (nerdy i know). They lost and I was devastated. Anyway, last night I rooted for Spain and they won!!!!!! Really happy and I'm looking forward to the finals!!! I just love the World Cup.

Day Trip. Boat. Blue sky. Motorbike.

Since my girlfriend and I both have Tuesday off, we decided to take a little day trip to Koh Si Chang. It's just and hour away from Bangkok, and quite peaceful.

The skyline away from the city. I have this thing with cranes.
Especially ones in the middle of the sea :)

Once on the island, we rented this motorbike. The thing was, neither of us has actually rode one before!! Anyway P'Oui braved the thing. And we survived.

Random pic of my favorite bag. And of course i wore purple sneakers.

Not too many pics since we were too busy fiddling with the camcorder!!
This one we were on our way back. Tired but wonderful day trip!!

These two live on the mainland, but go to school on the island. So they take the 45 minute boat trip in the morning and evening. And they entertained themselves by munching on these kiddy snacks that have toys in the bag! I was sneaking a peek the whole time :P

Ahhhh how nice to be away from the city, even for just a few hours :)

Saturday Work Play Outfits.

So yesterday after the crab-fest, my sister went to work (she's an English tutor) in these.

By the way, those sunnies are mine...

And here I am preparing to hit the mall.
In my favorite dress of course :)

The switchboard at the crab place. Impressive. How I love old stuff!

Ah.... getting ready for Monday again. How come weekends go by so fast???

Daddy took us out for crabs.

So yesterday dad took us out for crabs. He was reading about this place from the paper, and it wasn't that far, just around Phan Fa area, and it's called Phan Fa restaurant. The place was so old-school. You know, not much decor, tiny and steep wooden staircase, and waiters who looks like they've been there for 30 years. Oh, and the grandma sitting near the restrooms. Anyway, they're known for crabs and chicken rice, so this is what we got:

This was sooo good. Juicy and the meat was so fresh!!!

I had half the plate :P . Really.

The chicken rice. Not that special.

Crab claws. Yummy yummy.

Seaweed and tofu soup. Also good. They put in minced chicken which was nice.

Tacky crab decorations on the walls.

And my sister the crab claw model. Haha.

Overall, it's great for taking your family. Grandparents would feel right at home. And the service was good too, we could be kind of picky but they were fast enough. Also, they have really delicious pomelo (which we brought home) that was so juicy and sweet (too busy eating to take pics of the pomelo though...)

I was intending this blog to be a lifestyle blog, but I seem to just concentrate on food!!! Whatever makes me happy, right?

Love you readers :)

We eat like we mean it.

And after a looong day, me and Jip changed and went out to eat. It's called ก เอ๋ย ก ไก่ Kor Euy Kor Kai and it's the best neighborhood coffee shop/rice place I've been to in a while. They're really nice there, and the second floor where we were sitting doubles as a book store while there's a ping-pong table on the third floor! We were just hanging around eating and reading magazines :P

So there's Italian soda, my green soda, her rice/omelette/tom yum goong
and my pork and rice with miso soup. Yummy!

They got the BEST cha-yen, Thai iced tea. Honestly.

Then we literally stuff ourselves with waffles. Full full full.

Align Center
Her hungry face I guess. We haven't eaten yet when I took this.

And me. Happy to be eating :P

Sisters on the way to work.

Well, not exactly work today. I had a training course, and my sister was all dressed up prim and proper to apply for a stewardess post! Anyway, I thought we looked kind of nice this morning, so here goes...

Jip, with her hair in a bun and the knee-length skirt.

And me, with my favorite school-girlish polka dot dress.

And us. I was almost late to the training though... Hahaha

Sisters.

So today I came home, and found my sister in the most adorable outfit! She took the pants from grandma's closet(!), actually, she took about ten of them. Not joking. And she's been wearing them to work everyday! Leave it to her to recycle these things and make them look so nice!

Sigh. I want half the things in her closet, but unfortunately am too big to fit into them :P
I borrow her shoes without telling her sometimes though. Shhhhh...

Dreaming of the Beach.

Last year I took a four-day diving trip with some friends. We went to Koh Nang Yuan, and 8 hours on the bus and two hours on the ferry later, there was paradise. These pictures don't do the place justice. The water was so clear, and the killer view... ahhh..

Sunny mornings on the island.

This teeny tiny island got only one resort, so we didn't really have a choice :P

Me with long hair tied back.

Jeab, my best buddy.

The long and winding path from our bungalow.

I seriously need a vacation!!! But until then... I can fantasize :)

Slaving Away Sunday.

Sunday came around and I'm still at the office for the third day on my 8am to 9pm shift :( Anyway right around six o'clock I got really depressed, wandered here and there, then decided to venture up to the roof. It was sunset, and I had all the space to myself! Whew finally some time to breathe!!!

Took this with my iPhone, film would have been much better though, sorry about that....

I still have a busy week ahead, so let's see if I can actually get to take any pictures at all!!

On a lighter note, this evening my brother asked me to sew this thing for him, as one of its eyeballs was falling off....

So I took the liberty to upload it here... hahaha it's kind of cute in a creepy way. Wouldn't want to wake up with this on my bed though, but my brother loves it to bits.

Say it again.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. Oh, how I love that book. Heartbreaking and so real. Jonathan Safran Foer always knows how to touch you in that spot where you can't explain, then put it into words and stories. Like this one.

I should be reading more, really. Once I find the next perfect book to cuddle up with on a rainy afternoon, while nibbling on homemade (and hopefully not bitter) brownies...

Sci-fi world.

I love science fiction. Especially ones about travelling in space and time, or about the future. My favorite childhood film, apart from The Sound of Music, was Back to the Future.

I'd say simple is the best. I didn't need that much CG to believe we could actually time travel! And these two were soooo funny.

"Doc" and Marty.

And, growing up, I was fascinated by Gattaca (and Jude Law, of course!). This could become the actual future, who knows.... all those stuff about DNAs are coming true anyway.

And the last scene is perfect. How we all came from particles of the stars. Speaking of which, Ethan Hawke was also in (actually he was the leading actor. But I just like Jude Law and Uma Thurman better than this pretty guy).

So the last film for this post is Daybreakers. Vampires are all the rage now, from Twilight to True Blood, but Daybreakers got that scientist element that I just can't resist. And I wasn't disappointed at all. Ethan Hawke was great, and I think they used enough blood to drown the theater!! How cool would it be to have coffee stands, where you get a choice of how much blood you want in that morning (or rather, evening) coffee....

Harvested human. Bad joke, huh?
